It was his first day back at The Agency. He wasn't working yet, at least not doing photo shoots or anything, but David had been busy. For the past three hours he'd been updating his portfolio and resume. He had tried to do it at his apartment, but hadn't been able to focus, so he had decided to move his work to someplace he could possibly focus. Except, he couldn't.
After spending quite a while in the work space, trying to focus and update everything, David gave up, shut his lap top, and decided to head up to the roof to smoke a cigarette. He had cut back on smoking quite a bit, but when he was restless he still couldn't help but puff on one or two.
Reaching the top of the steps and opening the door to the roof, David took a deep breath in of the fresh air. Well, not too fresh. Good air was hard to find in just about any big city. Removing a pack of cigarettes and lighter from his pocket, David took a seat on one of the many benches on the rough and lit up.

Frederick didn't know what to feel, or even how to. He was tired, stressed out one might say, but he refused to admit he was--yes, he could be stubborn at times, but he refused to rest just yet. New models rose every few days and he had to try to keep up with how fast the fashion trend changes. Working on which clientele to keep and which not to wasn't the easiest thing in the world... All wanted to hire his models but not all good enough for these kids--and worse yet Fred couldn't bring himself to give the not good enough job for his models.
He knew his models were the best. The top in this fashion world... They deserve nothing but the very best.
A sigh escaped his lips as finally he managed to sort the clients they had from the ones with the most promising future to the less desirable to work with. The interns had managed to collect all the datas needed, from the net and how often they got good critiques on magazines, and he was thankful that he had them to help him. Done with sorting the list out he dropped the revised list at his assistant's desk so they could input the new data into their database, Fred went to the roof for some fresh air.
He just pushed the door open when he saw a younger man was there already. For his surprise it was someone he hadn't seen for a while! A smile appeared on his lips as he walked to the bench he was sitting at, noting the cigarette rightaway. "smoking isn't good for your health, you know" he playfully teased the model, before smiled to him in rather friendly manner, "where have you been, David? I haven't seen you for a while..."

"Trust me, I know," David sighed. He didn't even turn to see who it was. And he didn't even have to think about what to say. He'd gotten the smoking thing so many different that he didn't even have to think to reply. As for who it was, it just annoyed him even more. Yes, Fred was his boss, but that didn't mean he had to like him. Between how he treated Rose and how David felt about Rose was enough to make David feel rather negatively towards Fredrick.
With a slight exhale, he shrugged. "My dad died, so I had to go to Mexico," he said, taking a drag of his cigarette. He was surprised at how simply he had said that fact. His dad, practically his only family, had died. But, then again, he was incredibly tired and not feeling too happy. With a heavy sigh, smoke flowed through his nostrils. "But now I'm back for good," he muttered, more to himself then anything. It would be a long while 'till he felt comfortable taking time off again.

Frederick rolled his eyes as he heard David's reply; oh yes, he forgot to whom he was talking to. This certain model always showed rather bluntly how he disliked him and Fred wasn't too impressed, especially since there were rumors about the reason why--when a worker showed obvious dislike toward their boss, it was only natural if the others speculated the motive.
One of the rumors said David didn't like him too much because of what happened between him and Rose... Fred seriously thought it was none of David's business. Of course he was unaware of how the other man felt about his wife.
An eyebrow raised when David mentioned the reason why he was gone... The death of his father. But he said now he was back for good, and Fred couldn't hide his smile--he always happy to learn his models came back after long vacation time. Especially if the model was one with unique look like Mr Castillo. "Good" Fred said to the fact he was staying for good, "I'm sure Rose will be happy to hear that... Its sad we didn't have you back during the Costume National, but family must come first..."

David nodded. "Family always comes first," he said in an odd tone, almost a commanding tone. It was obvious why he said it that way. Plenty of times he had seen Fred snoop around with models and how sweet he talked to the girls. So often he defending Fred to Rose, just wanting her to be happy, even if he it meant that he couldn't be. But after the emotionally draining three weeks after his dad's death, he was tired of just about everything, especially putting up any sort of face.
For a moment, he huffed on his cigarette, contemplating something. He thought it would be a happy thing, coming back to the agency and working on his portfolio and having something to focus on. But he wasn't. Maybe he just wasn't ready to focus again, maybe he was forcing the end of the grieving process a little too fast. Exhaling deeply, David rested his head on his knees. This was too much. First Rose's visit and now this one on one with Fred. He could scream.
