Personality: Andrew likes to watch things, and people. He can sit on a soft piece of grass and just gaze into the life of those around him, and think about it, and think about them, and how he relates to them. He’s very observant and very thoughtful, a deep thinker. At times he can fall into his own world and become very lost in his mind, a type of glaze erupting over his eyes.
Andrew is secretive. He doesn’t go about yelling things, and he likes to keep apart of him a certain mystery.
Andrew wants to fit in, and he’s desperate to fit into the modelling world. He knows it’s all about appearances so he tries to fit in that way, trying to make himself look like one of them. Because he isn’t with the ‘in’ crowd he feels a lot of pressures and so has became very self conscious of how he looks, particularly his weight. Andrew doesn’t eat very often and when he does eat he’s been known to sick it up quite a bit. This isn’t something he’s proud of and he doesn’t really spread it about but it keeps his weight under control. He dresses in designer labels and always tries to make himself look presentable, if not more. In a way he tries to push the extra mile when it comes to his appearance, believing that it’s the first thing people look at and the first thing they make judgements upon. Appearance is very important to him and he’ll do anything to look the part. Anything.
Andrew has a type of laid back, relaxed way about him, yet he’s also got this alertness to him as well, as if he’s innocently always watching, always taking things in and always thinking. Unless he’s around the people who can get him in, when he’s around them he’s a bit of an attention grabber and likes to suck up, play people and manipulate them.
Unless he likes a girl a lot he isn’t one to chase. Andrew’s willing to go out and kiss ten girls in a night, even sleep with them, but running after a girl isn’t his thing to do. He prefers one night stands, no strings attached. He’s sort of picky when it comes to them in a relationship, and takes things at a slow pace, often giving off the wrong impressions as if he isn’t interested, unless he’s really into a girl. Then he’ll commit himself 100%. However when single, he’s quite the sleeper. Andrew sleeps about a lot of the time because he likes the feeling of being able to wreck things such as friendships and hearts, and he likes to be able to escape from his goody body reputation. It’s almost like a way of rebelling against what’s seen as right. He also tries to sleep with people high in power to get himself in the good books.
He likes to listen, but he also likes to talk and give his opinion. He’s the type of boy who’ll sit through a lesson quite engaged and then put his hand up and go into an in depth response, argument, contradiction or statement. Or depending on how on the ball he is he can be very attentive and be continuously making educated comments. To summarise, Andrew was a good student. The type of student that’s willing to learn, and then question what he’s learnt.
Andrew wants to make a difference. He has a lot of thoughts going on his mind, on socialism, on politics, on relationships, on the environment. He wants to change the world by getting his points across and helping people understand him, and gradually improving the world. But since he failed his year in law school due to his ‘psycho ex’ as he calls her, Andrew has set his heart on modelling.
Andrew has a contradictory to his beliefs by a slight obsession with vandalising things. He enjoys graffiti-ing things, and his excuse is that it’s art. He likes to drink a lot. And when he’s drinking he isn’t so observant, in fact he can become quite obnoxious. This is the side of him which usually comes out around his friends. His desire to break things and experiment with things, expensive things, almost as if to get out a frustration towards the pressures he feels and his addiction with fitting in. When he drinks alcohol or goes out with his close friends it’s almost like a breath of fresh air, of freedom, where he can have fun and be somewhat of a wild teenager, although not too wild. He not always manages to maintain his dignity.
He isn’t too hateful, but he is critical on people, even if it is only in his own mind. He’s nice to people even if he’s secretly hating them. Andrew isn’t the type of guy to get into fights but if one is thrust upon him, he does try and defend himself until he can find a way out of it. He prefers to settle things with words, believing that if anything is a weapon, it’s his words.
Trapped and lonely. Andrew feels trapped in this world, and unsatisfied. But the thing is he doesn’t know what will and can satisfy him. He doesn’t have much direction and finds himself often falling frustrated. He wants to escape only he doesn’t know how, he can’t see the exit, and he can only think once he finds it, that door, he knows that there’s only going to be another door to find, and another, and another. He knows he needs to find himself and who he is, but he isn’t sure if going through that door will lead him to where he wants to be. He also wants to be at peace with his appearance but he knows in this world it’s not going to happen.
He wants to throw things up a little bit to see how people react. He prefers to watch darker things than light, and has somewhat of a fascination with horror movies and revenge. He likes to secretly rebel without leaving a trace. He likes to be slightly dangerous, and out of control, but he always knows when he’s going too far. And a lot of the time he’ll stop himself from reaching that point. Most of what he does is just teenage rebellion.
Andrew’s a bit manipulative also. Especially after dating his ex girlfriend who he blames for getting herself pregnant although the child was stillborn, he knows that he has to go about things more secretively now in order to get around.
History: Andrew grew up in Chicago. His childhood was simple, apart from the fact that his father left as a child, Drew was brought up by his mom. She didn’t have a lot of money but she had a lot of love. His childhood was like any others, he played with kids in the street, he had small but nice Christmas’s and he didn’t really care much about not having a dad. He was never short of friends, as if his neighbourhood had a spout of children all in one year. His childhood was a good one really, attending a local school where he’d often not pay too much attention to his studies and more attention to his friends. When he was young, he wasn’t unpopular. He wasn’t popular either. He just had friends, like everyone else. They would usually play tag or kissy chase, or if they managed to find money they even sometimes made their way down to their local ice rink to have a skate around. Everything was alright, until he became a teenager and his mom’s attention was stolen. She met a man.
This man presented nothing to Drew except for a pocketful of money and a new wardrobe, he taught the young teenager how to dress. Andrew never really liked him, thinking he was corny and he wasn’t sure what he even wanted to do with his mom. But she thought differently and within a matter of months, wedding bells rang. Andrew was the least bit impressed. He was meant to be best man although he was quite miserable during the wedding.
During school his fun filled personality began to change a bit. Now he became more aware of his surroundings, and more bothered by fashion and people. Girls were starting to come into his life and the competition was growing as well. Andrew had always been somewhat on the smaller side of life, true he was tall but he was thin and his slender form was no competition to the muscular jocks. So he took to buying things to make himself feel better, and to big up his status but As the years went on, buying clothes and whatever else he wanted was becoming less satisfying, and Andrew turned to destruction.
He became frustrated with the life he was living and his insecurities over his body. Smashing things up on a drunken night out, smoking and leaving his mark was the only thing he really knew what to do. It was his only direction in life, because when he had sex with a random girl he felt like he could get his frustrations out, like he had some control on his life which was somehow falling quickly out of control.
Then he met someone, a girl whom was not so random. And it enforced the reason why he didn’t date. He fell in love with her, and then she only ended up hurting him, insulting him behind her back etc. Not only that but she got herself pregnant and had a kid only it was still born. This was in Andrew’s first year of law school which left him heavily distracted and resulted in him failing. At the same time having felt the insecurities grow from his girlfriends bitching and come downs he was beginning to feel worse about the way he looked. His stepdad had suggested he try modelling but when Andrew moved to New York the insecurities only grew higher. In a world of perfection how was he to even compete? This was when his eating disorder sprang and his attention seeking with the in crowd grew. He needed a way in and whether that meant sleeping about or selling his soul to the Devil, Andrew would do it.
